Title: Boost potential demand
Post by: DonViany on June 08, 2020, 09:21:39 AM
Dear,

How do you speed up the potential demand towards the actual demand for cargo?
Seems like I'm doing something wrong because it looks more like 'luck'

Kind regards
Don

Potential never changes.

Well, it grows with years that's all. It also grows with airports growing (and being present in more squares, then). But don't expect much from this.

Real demand is another beast, but it obviously can't exceed potential demand.

See this: https://www.airwaysim.com/forum/index.php/topic,85133.0.html

I believe you are confusing potential demand as being exclusive when you are competing with nearby airports for the same demand, so achieving 100% of potential demand is the exception versus the rule.

Please read this manual about city based demand (which basically means "cargo manual"): https://www.airwaysim.com/forum/index.php/topic,85133.0.html

Short: The more you supply a specific route, the more potential demand will be shifted to actual demand. BUT other airports within your catchment area that overlap with the squares of your airport will also attract potential demand IF they have supply to the airport you are flying to (or one that overlaps with the squares of your destination airport). So even if you supply a route it does not mean all the potential demand will be exclusively on your route as other airlines from other airports within your catchment area that share your demand squares will also get a portion of the potential demand. Potential demand gets split among various airports within the same region if they all have supply to the destination region.
