Title: fussy passengers (seats LH)
Post by: groundbum2 on January 18, 2020, 04:09:38 PM
so DoTM 1983 and 767-200ERs have just been released, I'm in Turkey. Config is 176/18/4 all standard.

My 5000nm flights to the East Coast and Mid-America are huge LFs and printing cash. But my LAX flights (180/day pax) are hovering about 50% LF and 25% in F. RI is 100, CI 41.

I'm wondering why my LF is so low to LAX, which is my further route . Could it be the seats?I could change to better seats but total seats would drop dramatically and I'm at 90%LF on the other routes, using 7 day scheduling.

Ideas welcome!

Simon

You don't use tech stops and there is no competition?

Departure/Arrival times are good?

2240/0320
0535/0535

I had prices set at default+4%. Dropped by 5% and LFs went down(!) so upped them back to defult+4% and now back to the numbers quoted in the original post.

I suppose the underlying question is whether there's some kind of flying time/range when long-haul passengers really won't put up with standard seats?

Maybe you can try a spare bird equipped with premium seats on that route just to see the difference. Temporally removing the route from the 7 days set.

I'd say the landing at 03:20 probably has at least something to do with it

yup, the arrival time is very very bad (I'd be fussy too!)  ;)

Basically:
Outbound arrival time: Very bad
Inbound dep & Arrival time both not good

How I see it: 06:00-22:55 all good
05:00-06:00 / 23:00-23:55 bad but ok if only one side is affected (arrival or departure).

I stopped scheduling outside of these timings as it's not worth it. On ocaison you need to go a bit beyond but it's better to look
for another destination that fits the open space better.

41 CI is probably also not helping, especially for the C/F. Are the money printing routes the same size as the LAX one ~180/day, or are they a little bigger?

thanks for all the ideas everyone. I rejiggled the 7 day route so no 3am arrivals and the LAX is now up to 75% LF, still with standard seats and pricing default +4%.

Weird how the early arrival of the outbound also knocked the LF of the return flight!

Factors are now
Y: 76.0%   C: 67.8%   F: 45.0%
Y: 79.4%   C: 50.0%   F: 40.0%

much better - and revenue is 71K per flight up from 34K - thank you! Simon
