Title: Low Cargo Demand
Post by: DanDan on June 03, 2019, 02:36:29 PM
Dear AWS Community,

i have certain routes, where there is rather limited cargo.
- maybe 100kg or even less
- often just in one direction
- or sometimes even no cargo at all, in either direction

plus: there is radio-button to decide during route creation to not take cargo

so i was wondering: is there any, and if yes: what is the impact of not loading cargo?
- i havent seen any change in "turnaround-time" (loading cargo could take longer)

so i would assume that handling for the aircraft could be more expensive if cargo is loaded/not loaded? although:
- there is no distribution of the handling costs regarding passengers/cargo.

so is there any reason why one should check the "passenger only" button?

Yes there is.

Cargo and pax handling costs are separate. But cargo is easy - if you have none to load, it costs nothing to handle either (there is no fixed fee or similar).

thanks for your quick reply! can i see the handling costs distributed somewhere? i know, i can see them in my "income statement" in total, but when i check a certain route i cant really see how much is pax, and how much is cargo.

but basically, since it is only variable costs (per kg), i guess one can just always put it on "pax and cargo"?

to touch on that...ive noticed very low demand to/from places like China/US and other markets that would normally be bustling with demand.
