Having had a look into the demand to destinations normally served by at least 3 or 4 airlines a day in real life , current demand to places such as Greece , Spain (not the worst ) and Croatia etc... is well below the amount of flights to these destinations .
Places such a Montenegro and most of the Greek islands have little to no demand at all yet are served in real life .
Am I missing something ?
What GW are you talking about?
Because from Moscow (not really the origin country of most tourists in Spain and Greece) I scheduled Viscount to like a dozen destinations in Greece as soon as the 60s. Spain is further away, couldn't use props, so I have less destinations, only the ones worth a NB.
But still, it seemed rather realistic to me (not real, realistic).
But on a wider array, yes, there are plenty of mistakes here and there. However as Sami is working on the transposition of the new dynamic demand model (CBD) to pax ops, no major overhaul of the old static system will be undertaken.
The new passenger demand model (which will some day replace the current one) does account for certain destinations being holiday destinations.
Okay great I wasn't aware of this!
But how seasonal will the demand be? It would be a nightmare if it were very realistic with 1000's of pax per day in high summer and nothing at all in winter. That's the norm for many of the Greek destinations, but maybe Spain, for example, is a little more evenly spread. I would think the easiest thing to do, for game dynamics, would be to average the demand over the whole year. Seasonal schedule changes would require a LOT of micro-management. And imagine trying to lease out all your A321 to a southern-hemisphere or Caribbean airline for the winter as in real life?
