Title: Aircraft production slots allocation question
Post by: lpopa93 on May 11, 2018, 11:34:22 PM
Guys, can someone please explain how the aircraft production slots are allocated? I am a bit confused, because I discovered the following problem:
That's a huge difference for similar production rates and the same number of aircraft. Why is that? Why do the Bombardiers get delivered so slowly?

I think the sukhoi is a medium. Minimum days between delivery is different between medium and large class planes with large requiring more time between deliveries.

As Schro said, there is variation between size classes, so you would be able to get a more medium planes (if the slots are available) than large ones.

It's a bit more complicated than that though when looking at your example. When you make an order for planes, you are given provisional dates. So June 2017 to Jan 2020. If you order that, and there are lots of free slots available, a couple of weeks after making the order your order slots will condense down and the deliveries will move closer to each other and the final delivery will move forward, likely to 2019.

With the Sukhois you ordered, this process already happened. So yes, technically the minimum spacing between deliveries will be different, and likely higher between the medium and the large jet. But it's not an apple with apples comparison, because the made order is condensed, and the possible order isn't, and in the example you show above, this is the main reason for the difference.

I remember having been able to get 30 A148s per year from the production line alone. Unthinkable for larges.

Except when you order them before the compression ;D

Thank you for the answers! It's more clear now. I thought it's only a matter of production volume per month, I didn't know orders are also spaced out by aircraft size.

I am doing a fleet conversion, because I temporarily leased some A320s, as the used fleet market is scarce, and now I want to get rid of them. My aim in this game world is to play without the classic recipe of aircraft (A320, B737 and so on).
