Title: Open new route - cargo/pax.
Post by: MuzhikRB on March 30, 2018, 12:59:30 PM
Currently when we open new routes we can check the box to filter out destinations we are already flying.

It is become useless when you open cargo route first and then want to open pax as well.  or vice versa.

If you dont check the box you see small plane picture near the route you fly, but you cannot figure - what it that route - pax or cargo.

Proposal:
1. add pax/cargo definition for "remove route i am fly to "
2. add 2-color small planes pictures that can allow to see what kind of plane pax/cargo - are currently flying to destination.

So, changing it to:
1) Icon indicating you have pax routes (or pax/cargo)
2) Icon of cargo only routes

(?)

I think so.

With only one icon: just like today with the small plane icon - none when there's no current flight, outlined when half flown with the other half filled in grey (right?) when flown for pax, and half filled in grey (left?) when flown for cargo. Completely filled when both type of ops present.

Otherwise, with 2 icons: one showing some kind of human being (none if no pax route), the other with a box (none if no cargo route).

This feature may not have the intended effect of showing you how you operate a certain route: first, because the current plane icon of route flown shows up even when you're not flying that route and/or there are no slots to fly it; second, you can have pax only fligts, pax-cargo flights and cargo-only flights on the same route.

Another problem is, if you assign a pax aircraft with cargo capacity on a route for a pax/cargo operation and due to payload/range reasons you end up flying only pax, you won't know that because the system will logically assign that route as a pax/cargo route because of the aircraft you assigned for it.

Could be simply two identical icons color coded. For which I vote Red for pax and Green for cargo!

That sounds like a user-end error, not a system error?

Yes, some unaware player might do this mistake and live with it, until he realizes it. But again, this feature will probably not help him realize faster.

I think this feature should disregard belly cargo of pax ops, this would otherwise lead to confusion.

Pax "only" (+ bags, + belly cargo) = pax icon
Cargo only = cargo icon

Now, where to put the combis?

Yes

Icon for pax/combies

Icon for freighter (carrying heavy cargo).

No, belly cargo is already cargo operation and is no different at all from a combi operation - both carry pax and cargo!

Freighter versions of small/medium a/c can't carry heavy cargo, so how will they be classified?

All planes carry cargo, but that's no reason to treat them as cargo plane. Otherwise we end up with officially only cargo ops, and some of them carrying pax. No use.

Pax + combies

Cargo (dedicated)
