Hi guys! Not so new to the game, but haven't really been playing it so seriously the years I've been playing. Been on and off, but always enjoying coming back!
Now I want to take the next step, and expand my airline more than I've ever done before, but its here I need help from you experienced guys.
How do you organize your plans for the airline?
Is it someone that have made some spreadsheet or something like that in excel to have control on both flights, planes, and for planning routes etc?
I would love some input on this, and if possible, also would love to see a spreadsheet or a notebook from someone!
I'm using Trello, with one column per base, and one card per destination. 'got hundreds of cards, and it's always a pleasure to see their number go down.
I do it old school, piece of paper and a pen. ;D
One sheet per hub. I use four columns: IATA Code, demand, distance, aircraft type I want to use.
I then click through the the airport list and write down where it makes sense for me to schedule flights to. Whenever I have scheduled one of them I simply cross it out.
The list looks something like this:
CDG 170 1020NM B734
AMS 360 820NM 2x B733
+B735
MAD 100 1590NM B735
LGW 140 1000NM B733
...and so on
I don't know if it's a good system, but works for me.
Hope it helps.
Greets,
Cedric
I am using the ingame notepad. Pretty much like above.
I use an OpenOffice Calc spreadsheet. I use a different file for each base and split each fleet type (and in a few cases, configurations) onto their own tab. I only use it for planning, not for keeping track of current routes. I let the Route Management page in-game take care of that for me.
Used excel.
Destination / distance / demand / alien supply / my supply / difference / Workhorse / prop
-> last two columns in case I could fly the route with both, and number of them on the route
Dynamic sheet, so I could sort by distance or unsuplied demand or else.
But I almost stopped. Use a pen and paper to write down important destinations (wether I should build a schedule around them because of tight frequency scheduling or curfew or else, or because I'm not currently working on that base, or any other reason).
I use the game interface for almost everything, from route planning to management. I only developed a spreadsheet to predict if a route will be viable or not and with which aircraft from my fleet it will give me more profits. I use pencil and paper to schedule longhaul routes, too. It would be nice if AWS allowed us to export game-related data to Excel sheets, so I could make better analisys much faster; nowadays it's pretty much impossible to keep track of the game world with Excel sheets because all the demands and costs are very dynamic and figures might change a lot in just a coulple of weeks.
