When you set up a new route you have to pay the slot fees, Duh. But when I look at my income statement those "slot fees" don't show up in the OTHER REVENUE/EXPENSES section. Why is that? The problem this creates is that I'm spending a lot of cash on slot fees to set up routes but it doesn't show as an expense on my books therefore I'm still turning a high profit each week and thus getting slammed with 30% in taxes which of course I don't have because I already spent the supposed profits on slot fees. Is this a bug or am I missing something? (wouldn't be the first time I missed the obvious either...lol)
They aren't counted as expenses, they become assets as you own them, never have to renew them and are counted as part of your airline value. They appear on your balance sheet under Non-Current Assets.
They only become a cost when you allow them to lapse and return them to the public slot pool. That is when they become an Expense in your Income statement as loosing them means you've lost their Initial cost of buying them from your airline value.
OK. That makes sense. Thanks :)
