Title: Import Tariffs?
Post by: Fisher970 on October 10, 2017, 01:06:11 AM
With what is going on with Bombardier's C-Series aircraft in the US, I was curious if events like this would be modeled into the game. It would certainly add an extra challenge to airlines based in certain countries.

For those of you who may not be fully familiar with whats happening, here is a quick rundown. Boeing has alleged that Bombardier's deal with Delta last year for 75 CS100s was the result of subsidies from the Canadian Government. Boeing claims that this deal is detrimental to the sales of their 737NG and 737MAX series aircraft to which Delta and Bombardier say the C-Series are not comparable aircraft. On September 26, the US Department of Commerce ruled in favor of a 219.63% tariff on all C-Series aircraft imported to the US.

This Business Insider article goes into a lot more detail about the situation.

No thanks.

We already have enough handicaps encouraging folks to stay as sub 100 aircraft baby goldfish.

First of all you should make Soviet airlines use only Soviet aircraft when you talk about trade restriction.

Let's add random crashes for early comets as well to discourage anyone from using them.

This is actually one of the most stupid things that has happened in modern aviation in my opinion... It's more about Boeing being jealous that someone made a better aircraft than them than anything else...

If you want to talk about "subsidies" how about this little quote from GlobalNews?

QuoteThirty-six per cent of Boeing's $94.5 billion revenue for 2016 came from the U.S. Department of Defense (U.S. DoD), according to the company's financial statements.
Those military dollars are an "indirect help" for Boeing's commercial aircraft business

Only if Sami doesn't alert us of this change   It's more fun that way!
