Hi, I wonder if anyone can shed some light as to an issue I have in GW3:
I wish to fly from my base AMM in Jordan, to Ho Chi Mihn City but I need a stopover. Looking at the map I decided that Mumbai/Bombay (where I already have a direct flight anyway) was a good mid-way point.
But the airport is not available at all as a stop-over. is there some reason for this or is there a glytch in the system here???
If memory serves, class 5/large airports are no longer available for tech stops. Try a nearby airport like Ahmadabad, Goa, or Nagpur, perhaps?
Thanks for the suggestion. My first choice was Ahmadabad but their curfew hours prevented this, then I looked at BOM. I'll use one of the others you suggest - thanks again!
To select stopover airport,
1. go to gcmap, draw a circle for both origin and destination airport with radius of about half their distance, look at where they come close or overlap, like this http://www.gcmap.com/mapui?R=3800km%40AMM,3800km%40SGN
2. go to browse airport page at https://www.airwaysim.com/game/Routes/Airport#1 , see which airports are close to the part the two circle come together, check their curfew time.
3. Note that if curfew is a problem, both way can use different stopover airports

Stopovers are generally strongly recommended against unless there are special circumstances like no right plane in fleet or in the era for an otherwise unserved huge demand and there are no better route to serve, due to the way the system is modelled with addition of each stopover mean half people stop looking for your service and the cost vs income of doing so.
If I remember correctly ability to tech stop at big airports was removed due to the ability to hog slots using tech stops. As tech stops no longer use slots as far as I know, the restriction now seems redundant.
The two exceptions to this rule (or maybe there are more) are Anchorage and Honolulu. This is for practical and historic reasons - both places were used a LOT for real-world stopovers and still are to a certain extent.
