I have tried to explain why I think it would be a good idea to come with city based demand but due to network instability all the thing i typed are lost so I tried to retype them in a simpler way
- With CBD, demand in route planning screen are replaced by potential demand and actual demand using the airport pair
- actual demand would change over time due to player's action and thus would not be indicative of the actual demand, which could mean new entrance into a market will have no way in knowing what is the actual demand between two airports unless they actually fly and test those routes and let demand between other airport pairs restore, which is time consuming, aircraft consuming, financial resource consuming and effort consuming
- Consider the case if routes are created between JFK-DME by various players, but there are no other route pairs created between the two cities, now someone want to fly to Moscow from EWR. He will see the large potential demand which is the sum of all possible airport combinations between two cities, but he will see only tiny amount of actual demand between the two cities.
- In this situation, it would be much harder for new entrance to the market to decide whether or not should they flown the route as they will have no idea on how much share they can take back from the major route.
- Providing baseline demand figure could help them to judge this.
Because if it is added as an additional bar would be too confusing, and the current way of displaying potential demand is already confusing to players, I suggest having an alternative presentation method.
Instead of adding a bar for potential demand, take the bar out and turn it into percentage and numbers.
Like this:
Deamnd | CL | CS | CH | <-- Legend here. When pax are included they can be in the same chart. |
Potential | 1000kg(20%) | 2000 kg(30%) | 1000kg(5%) | <-- percentages are percentages of demand that have been converted to actual demand. Can apply color code. |
Current | 200kg | 600kg | 50kg | <-- Current. Can coexist with chart |
Local | 50kg(25%) | 100kg(17%) | 50kg(100%) | <-- Percentage of current demand. |
