Title: Route Discussion
Post by: JVassie on July 08, 2008, 08:32:24 AM
So what does everyone think will work best?

Hubs with Spokes?
Many Focus Cities?
P2P?

I suppose it is going to vary with the type of airline you are running, but generally, I'd have thought initially, the easy money will lie in doing transatlantic hops and/or transcontinental hops across USA.

Anyone know of routes that will have huge competition?

The short haul routes that tend to have the most competition are:

LH-Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels and most of all PARIS CHARLES DE GALLE

From reading the different forum posts, it would appear descent long rang or short range routes would work.

Also since currently the aircraft have to start at your hub. It might be profitable to skim money off of tag routes.

Example for Asia

HKG-NRT-JFK
HKG-SEL-LAX

This seems like the best way to make money, as I would assume both routes HKG-NRT and HKG-NRT-JFK would be sellable there by increasing load factor on HKG-NRT where by also picking up passengers on the NRT-JFK route.

I havent played the game to know properly how to work. As indicated in previous forum posts there are no hub aspects so point to point and tag flights would be the way to go. The game is still in beta so at this point that would seem the most logical to make cash.

The thing that will be interesting with this game is the 500 competitor factor, you could get X airlines in 1 hub which definately plays into your route and pricing structure.

The "3 leg" routes are usually very nice and profitable..

However in real life those are usually restricted by country route rights so you cannot fly anywhere.. That's another huge thing to think and implement here too. And as you mentioned the hub/flight connections is other, flights are point to point now - this was just discussed in another topic.

Agreed, he just asked about this game so. Thats why I dont get why Canadian airlines dont do tag flights from the US given the new 5th freedom rights.
