Title: Long production Aircraft still operating with Fare Paying Scheduled Airlines
Post by: 11Air on February 15, 2016, 09:33:08 AM
The Britten Norman BN2 Islander.  Launched GW-2 1st of March 1963.  Still in production (real world) in Portsmouth UK in it's pretty basic form as a real jungle Airplane, rugged and reliable as you'd expect from a private venture for the UK Army to deliver troops and supplies to remote areas.
It was developed into the Tri-Lander later and there is one is still flying EGHI - EGJJ daily.  Noisy and slow it may be, but the company, founded by a 18yr? old a couple of years ago, is still operating.

Didn't Aurigny retire their Trislander at the end of last year? I remember those three pistons flying over my house and disturbing me distinctly.....

Still hear it going out.  Maybe a back up aircraft now rather than their No1 choice.
