Hello AirwaySim.
Just started in the beginners world here ( have been playing airlinesim) for a while and wanted to try this as well.
I am wondering if connections between my own flight through my own HUB is a factor in this game?
Or are the routes point-to-point based with no possibility of connections on own and perhaps partner airlines ?

As of right now it is point to point. The Devs are working on cargo in which they will have a new demand system. After that has been implemented and the bugs worked out they will integrate it in to passenger demand.
There is not even support for less frequency,
In example if you had Barcelona to London 100 pax each day,
you only put 3 flights in week with seat capacity of 200, the pax on monday will not travel on tuesday flight to fill up the flight.
