Title: PLANES THAT DONT FLY
Post by: tdf42 on September 21, 2015, 08:22:25 PM
Is there a game disadvantage for flying planes that were not successful? I read the latest Fairchild plane never flew commercially.

Depends on the economics of the plane more than anything. The MD-90-55 is a rather fantastic plane that never flew.

the Fairchild-Dornier 928 is really a decent plane, if you speak about him. Not as good as the Ejet, but in GW3, it's much cheaper to buy, so it can be a good idea anyways. And the Fokker120NG also has good qualities, in its niche.

(the fact that the F120NG will never fly is not official, but well...)

At the end, this game is about statistic. Look at all the stats, and then make the decision according to your strategy. For a quick expansion a cheaper-to-lease plane can be good, for long-term survival, costlier but fuel-efficient planes could do the job, etc(and both strategies can be dangerous)... Whether the steel you fly has a real life equivalent should not be part of your decision process.

The Fokker 120 is in continued development by the Rekkof company.... and no, that is not a joke. http://www.rekkof.nl/

QuoteThe project does not seem to get started. Since the Dutch government was allowed to supply Rekkof funds to develop the new aircraft, not a lot has happened. Rekkof visualised its plane on their website. No public report has been produced detailing spending the government-supplied funds. Parliamentary documents show that Rekkof has, thus far, not been able to co-finance the development.

but it's not important for the game, as airwaysim is a better game with the F120 than without. That is important, not wether to know if it will really exist IRL.
