Title: Aircraft cargo data needed
Post by: Sami on June 24, 2015, 10:14:07 AM
Some of the aircraft models in AWS database are still missing the 'cargo capacity' value. This means that it is not possible to use these planes for cargo transport in the future, until the data on aircraft cargo capabilities is added.

If someone has free time available, I'd appreciate help on adding this data.

I am looking for the cargo compartment volume (m3) for each aircraft. This is the volume of all available freight space, excluding passenger cabin stowage like hat racks and closets.

Additionally, if cargo conversion of the aircraft is available, I am looking for the total cabin volume (m3) that is available for cargo transport if the passenger plane is converted into a full freighter.

What strange idea to have the Concorde flying fret... But I did find that link in French (http://museedelta.free.fr/concorde/concorde_car.htm), with the following informations !

"Volume maxi soutes à bagages"(soute à bagages is luggage compartiment)    19,74 m3

So, that's the volume usable outside the cabin for luggage. It's what you're looking for? I couldn't find anything else(in french, I let others look for english sources).

Look at this for sample
http://www.md-11.org/iac/GS.pdf (http://www.md-11.org/iac/GS.pdf)
the same thing on all other aircraft cargo compartment capacity is almost always directly depends on the passenger compartment. This is especially true of turboprop aircraft, where it is easy to redo the configuration of the aircraft itself (so do in Africa for example). Today there are about 10 types of containers and pallets for aviation freight, so in principle it is possible to hammer in cargo compartment to the eyeballs, but in practice, the plane remains very much a place for cargo, if busy the entire passenger compartment. Therefore, you must define the parameters of the game initially-or fixed weight with standard or modified player armchairs or floating weight which depends on change chairs.
If you select the first option, then the weight will be equal to minus the payload of passengers with luggage - 20%. The way to do so was flight Manila-Boracay in front of  the plane stand scales and a passenger, along with baggage is weighed before they enter the plane :-\

Modern aircraft use palletted seating.  It's configured on cargo style pallets but with all the carpets and seat I place so they can be removed, re-installed at will.  Useful on older B747.s of course.

Most modern long range large passenger airliners carry a considerable amount of cargo below the passenger deck.

FreeWorld Airlines is a Flight Sim Group that has lots of data on cargo and pax mixes over various ranges.  Might be a useful source of data.  You are not in competition with them so a direct approach may work.

If you read the original post of the thread again, it's not about combi or cargo conversions, but MAINLY first about the space of the cargo comparments when a/c is in standard passenger configuration.

Yak-40K would be the cargo version.

"Yak-40K" passenger-cargo ("combi") variant, introduced in 1976, which featured an upward-opening cargo door on the forward left side of the fuselage, the door having a height of 1.4 meters (4 feet 11 inches) and a width of 1.5 meters (5 feet 3 inches).

Fourth series

The final series was introduced in 1975. Payload was increased to 3,200 kg (7,055lb), and the interior could be arranged into two classes of seating, or for rapid conversion from passengers to cargo.
http://www.airports-worldwide.com/articles/article1427.php

The fourth and final series featured provisions for rapid conversion between passenger and cargo carriage. It led to the "Yak-40K" passenger-cargo ("combi") variant, introduced in 1976, which featured an upward-opening cargo door on the forward left side of the fuselage, the door having a height of 1.4 meters (4 feet 11 inches) and a width of 1.5 meters (5 feet 3 inches). Depending on configuration, the Yak-40K could carry 10 to 18 passengers in the rear section, along with 1,150 kilograms (2,535 pounds) to 2,150 kilograms (4,740 pounds) of freight respectively in the forward section.

It's a tough best to find. I've been lucky with the Concorde, but I couldn't find anything relevant for the N262.

The Armstrong Whitworth Argosy A55
Crew: 3
Capacity: 26 - 31 passengers
Length: 71 ft 6 in (21.79 m) Wingspan: 92 ft 0 in (28.04 m) Height: 26 ft 0 in (7.92 m) Wing area: 986 ft² (91.6 m²)
Empty weight: 30,800 lb (13,971 kg) Max. takeoff weight: 45,000-47,000 lb (20,412–21,319 kg)
Powerplant: 4 × Armstrong Siddeley Mamba AS.1[6] axial flow turboprop, 1,010 shp (753 kW) each
Maximum speed: 330 mph (531 km/h, 287 knots) Cruise speed: 276 mph (444 km/h, 240 knots)
Range: 940 mi (1,513 km, 817 nmi) Service ceiling: 28,000 ft (8,534 m)
Civil version was designated AW.65 (66 being the military version).
The Armstrong Whitworth Argosy came from the Air Ministry "Operational Requirement 323" (OR323) which resulted in a specification issued in 1955 for a medium-range freight aircraft capable of lifting 25,000 lb (11,340 kg) and that had a range of 2,000 mi (3,200 km) with 10,000 lb (4,500 kg). This led AW to develop a twin-engine design for the military, the AW.66.
The potential for civil sales led to a civil design AW.65, which differed by having full section doors at each end of the fuselage to allow quick loading and unloading. A lack of funds led to abandonment of the military requirement, but Armstrong Whitworth had already decided to go ahead with the civil variant as a private venture, it being redesigned with four Rolls-Royce Darts as the AW.650.
It had a maximum weight of 88,000 lb (39,915 kg) and a payload of 28,000 lb (12,700 kg). Cruising at 276 mph (444 km/h), it had a range of 1,780 mi (2,865 km) and could seat 89 passengers.
The second prototype, configured in 32 seat Wayfarer airliner form (without the nose freight doors) flew the following April. Civil certification was granted in June 1946.

The 208B will hold 340 cubic feet of cargo. If that still isn't enough, Cessna offers an optional 111.5-cubic-foot, 1,090-pound-capacity belly pod. Rumor has it that animals and even people have been carried in Caravan pods — illegally, of course, and without question uncomfortably.

The Cessna C208B will hold 340 cubic feet of cargo. If that still isn't enough, Cessna offers an optional 111.5-cubic-foot, 1,090-pound-capacity belly pod.   Ground roll for a maximum gross weight takeoff in sea level standard conditions is 1,365 feet, according to handbook figures.  The cabin has 14 seats. There is plenty of room for more, but few countries allow more than 14 people in a turbine airplane without imposing some extensive and expensive additional requirements, according to Cessna. (The FAA permits a maximum of nine passengers and two crew.)

Bristol 170 - Early production was of the Mk1 Freighter and Mk2 Wayfarer. The Mk11 (later the Mk21) was unveiled at the 1947 SBAC air show and introduced rounded wingtips and more powerful Hercules 672 engines, allowing an increase in gross weight of 1360kg (3000lb).
The Mk31 introduced more powerful engines and remained in production until 1950 Empty 12,247kg (27,000lb), max take-off 19,958kg (44,000lb).
Mk31 - Two 1475kW (1980hp) Bristol Hercules 734 14-cylinder sleeve valve radial piston engines driving four blade propellers.
Mk31 - Max cruising speed 311km/h (168kt) at 10,000ft, economical cruising speed 262km/h (141kt). Range with max payload 1320km (715nm), range with max fuel 2785km (1505nm). Payload of 5670kg (12,500lb), or alternatively seating for 15 to 23 passengers, depending on configuration.
The final 170 model is the Mk32, developed at the request of Silver City Airways. The Mk32 featured a lengthened nose which allowed it to carry three cars, rather than two, in a car ferry configuration or up to 60 pax.  The last flight of a Bristol 170 was made on September 6 2004,

dH Dragon Rapide Crew: 1 + 8 passengers  Empty weight: 3,230 lb  Loaded weight: 5,500 lb
Powerplant: 2× de Havilland Gipsy Six inline engine, 200 hp each

C46 -  The cargo area in the C-46 was 48 feet long, 9 feet 10 inches wide, and 6 feet 8 inches high. Its maximum loaded weight was 45,000 pounds (which could be pushed to 50,000 pounds). As built stats were 29,485 lb (13,374 kg)  Gross Weight: 40,000 lb (18,144 kg)
Performance: Maximum Speed: 264 mph (424 km/h)  Cruise Speed: 173 mph (278 km/h)  Range: 2,300 miles (3,701 km)

DC4  42 passenger seats, or 30 seats as a sleeper transport.

The AW.650 was a high-wing four-engined general-purpose transport aircraft, powered by four Rolls-Royce Dart turboprop engines driving Rotol four-blade propellers. The tailplane was on twin booms from the inner engine nacelles, leaving the cargo doors at the rear of the fuselage clear for straight-in loading, while sideways-opening doors were fitted at both ends of the fuselage, with the flight deck high up in the nose. This gave an unobstructed cargo space measuring 10 by 47 feet (3.0 m × 14.3 m) with a sill height corresponding to that of a normal flatbed truck.
This unusual "pod and boom" structure would earn it the nickname "The Whistling Wheelbarrow".  The first Argosy made its maiden flight on 8 January 1959,[3] receiving Federal Aviation Administration type certification on 2 December 1960.[4] 10 of the initial civil version, the Series 100, were built.
The Argosy was used by the Royal Air Force for its capability to accommodate 69 troops, 48 stretcher cases or 29,000 lb (13,000 kg) of freight. This meant it could carry military equipment such as the Saracen or Ferret armoured cars, or artillery such as the 105 mm (4.13 in) howitzer or Wombat. Design changes to the Saracen and the main spar running through the top of the freight bay subsequently precluded the use of the Argosy as a Saracen transport.
The earliest deployments were in 1962 to 105 Squadron in the Middle East and 114 and 267 Squadrons at RAF Benson. retired the last aircraft in February 1975.
General characteristics Crew: Four Capacity: up to 69 troops, 54 paratroops, 48 stretcher cases or 29,000 lb (13,154 kg) of cargo
Length: 86 ft 9 in[23] (26.44 m) Wingspan: 115 ft 0 in (35.05 m) Height: 29 ft 3 in (8.92 m) Wing area: 1,458 ft² (135.5 m²)

B277 Stratocruiser -  As an all-cargo plane, featured by a drive-up ramp in the rear and internal cargo-handling equipment, which make for speedy loading and does away with necessity for special handling equipment. This version has a usable cargo volume of 3,000 cubic feet and a maximum cargo payload of 35,000 pounds.
Alternately carrying 100 passengers in all three cabins. 2. As a luxury sleeper plane, with 72 day seats or 36 comfortable berths in the main cabin, the rear lower cabin fitted as an observation, dining and cocktail lounge seating 14 persons.  11Air suggests limited additional cargo, perhaps 1/6th subject to max T/O wt and range.

Updated list of aircraft that is missing cargo data:

Quote from: Sami on June 24, 2015, 10:14:07 AM
Some of the aircraft models in AWS database are still missing the 'cargo capacity' value. This means that it is not possible to use these planes for cargo transport in the future, until the data on aircraft cargo capabilities is added.

If someone has free time available, I'd appreciate help on adding this data.

I am looking for the cargo compartment volume (m3) for each aircraft. This is the volume of all available freight space, excluding passenger cabin stowage like hat racks and closets.

Title: Need HS 748 F cargo in GW2
Post by: sleepypig on June 04, 2018, 03:28:03 PM
Hi Everyone!

I'm playing in GW2 with HS 748s, and I noticed there are no cargo versions for the HS748, despite the option for the large freight door available since 1971.
Sorry if this is another "can we get this aircraft in the database" post, I'm just wondering if this will be in the aircraft database, not that I could use it for heavy cargo in my current airline, although that would be nice :)

While looking for it I just noticed this from Tha_Ape :
https://www.airwaysim.com/forum/index.php/topic,25934.msg440984.html#msg440984
> Cubic Volume:
> 1,400 CBF (cubic feet)

Here are more tidbits from the 'net:
https://aviationcargo.dhl.com/aviationcargo/sites/default/files/aircraft_dimension_sheets/hs748cph.pdf
> The specially modified HS 748 has a maximum payload of 6300 KGS, and a maximum volume of 55 cu.mtrs.

http://www.aircharter.co.uk/aircraft-guide/cargo/bae(hawkersiddeley)-uk/baehs748
> TOTAL LOAD VOLUME  55 m³ / 1942'³
> MAXIMUM RANGE  1715 KM / 1065 Miles
> FERRY RANGE  2750 KM / 1708 Miles
> RUNWAY REQUIREMENT  1500 M / 4921'3"

If I am not mistaken, "medium" aircraft cannot carry heavy cargo.

Right. A choice had to be made, and medium cannot carry HC, even though some could / can IRL (Wayfarer with cars, An-178 with maritime containers, etc.). Sad but necessary, for categorization needs.
