Have any of you guys seen this on the news! Another threat on an aircaft. What is going on in the aviation world ???

1) Media and now Social Media with the internet raise the awareness of such incidents. In the past there was maybe a report on TV news or not - today you can inform yourself. The number of such events (in other branches) stayed the same, people just get more information now.
2) Air travel and therefor the total number of flights increases. Therefor there's a higher possibility of an incident.
That is very true. 2014 has been full of aircraft incidents this year
Don't really know what the exact circumstances were in this case today, but it still surprised me that people are dumb enough to think its funny or acceptable to make jokes or hoaxs about bombs at an airport or on a plane. The expense incurred and the travel chaos caused can be pretty severe.
