Hey Guys.. Does it do any good to market a new route BEFORE you actually start flying it?

If it is a very important LH route, maybe.  But the progress will be slow since the increase of RI from advertising will be offset by loss from not flying.

In general, with route advertising, when your airline is very small, when you fly to very few destinations, it is inexpensive, but the cost grows with the number of destinations you are already flying to.  If you are already flying to a lot of destination, and the marketing cost is very high, it probably does not make sense to advertise too far in advance of flying.

Yes, if you absolutely know for sure you are flying that route and cash is not extremely low you can do that with good results. However, I am too lazy and just make marketing when I open the route..... :P

Thanks... for the responses... I tried it on a long haul route that I was going to fly but had to wait on my acft to go through a "D" check, but I didn't have very good results.. The first couple of weeks the RI jumped up to about 5 but then it steadily fell back to around 2... and stayed there..
