I did some poor planing and leased a bunch of planes without really checking when all of the C Checks would expire. Now half of my fleet (4 out of 8 planes) are going to be up for C Check maintenance with in the next few weeks. At this point I've taken off the automatic C Checks and sent one in early to get it out of the way. I also took out a loan to help cover the costs, but I'm obviously going to be heavily affected by the lack and loss of revenue. I don't have spare planes to cycle in and I don't have the money to cancel a bunch of leases and get new planes. What happens if I skip a C check for a few weeks to a month? I just need to space these out so I'm not losing half of my flights and all of my money.
The authorities will issue a fine if they catch you (it's random, I guess) operating planes that are not maintained properly. I should also think the probability of delays/cancellations due to technical issues would be increased.
You cannot postpone it but you could get rid of the problem for next year's checks by making manually some C checks in advance for some of the planes, so that they all don't then hit at the same time.
Or another choice, take the plane off the routes and then just do not make the C check. But do it before you start to fly it again.. but that's silly and costly.
