Title: (HND) Lack of slots?! Really?
Post by: fedot12345 on June 13, 2014, 11:22:09 PM
Already mentioned it in GW 2 game talk

Can anybody explain to me this then please?

How does Haneda in GW 2 have only 52 slots?! Where is the logic? It's like 2010 right now GW time and only 52 slots with 4 runways already! How? Like Heathrow with 2 only has like 77 slots compared to Haneda with 4 runways but 52 slots. This is madness and doesn't make any sense.

Sami can you fix this please?

Haneda is very slot restrictive in real life. airlines are fighting each other to get a piece of the action. granted a lot of slots have been released by the airport recently in modern times to allow for international flights so if Sami wants to model that he's more than welcome to in the future. But i think AWS has other pressing issues.

As in real life, the amount of slots are determined by the airport authority, not the amount of runways.

Haneda, in real life, is very restrictive concerning approach altitudes for noise abatement. This significantly reduces the runway throughput to levels notably below what would be possible from a pure runway perspective.

That's true. Looking at Flightradar24 planes there do some weird turns straight after take off or just before touchdown around Tokyo Bay probably to avoid noise in Tokyo. Still 52 slots an hour is a bit low considering those restrictions.

2014 capacity, 447000 slots per year = approx 51 slots per hour on average 24/7.   (http://www.mlit.go.jp/koku/15_hf_000051.html)

Strange how accurate this is, I'm surprised... Considering that it's a purely system calculated value and not pre-programmed in any way.

(So, wouldn't mind a bit of background checking or a quick googling before posting a rant to the forums without any facts. 8) )

ka-burned haha ;)

although a better response would've been : i'll adjust it to 51 to make it more realistic for you
