Title: Seat blocking
Post by: Luperco on March 07, 2014, 02:52:40 PM
Hi

In another thread I have read that, when servicing a route with a plane bigger than the route capacity, a seat blocking is needed.

Is it true or I misunderstood? And why?

Thanks

The monopoly bureau will pay you a visit if you supply more than 200% of demand on a route.  So if daily pax is 100 and you put 200 seats on it, that is no bueno.  If you block 50 seats and have 150 seats on a 100 pax route you are golden.

Previously, the only way to do this was ridiculous seating configs or adding extra fleet types.  If you anticipate growth on a route, you can block seats and then unblock them as demand increases over time.
