Next big thing will be all-electric aircraft with superconducting propulsion. Anything else happening until then is just a minor tweak.

If fly-by-wire gets replaced by wireless, this would eliminate a significant amount of weight and increase fuel efficiency.  However, wireless would probably always have wire for redundancy, so not sure we'll ever see wireless.
