Title: Cancelling aircraft orders
Post by: Lambert_M on January 24, 2014, 12:54:14 PM
Hi all,

If anyone could help me with this, I´d be grateful: I have a large order in on planes that I have paid outright, so no delivery payment outstanding. My question is pretty basic, but could´t find an answer in the manual: How much of my money will be returned to me if I cancel on of those plane orders? Nothing it seems from the manual. Could that be true?

The way I read it you will lose 60% of the purchase price.
If I were you I would wait for delivery and then sell or lease them out. That way you are likely to make some profit.

As I remember, cancelling an order with
- Delivery 10 months and beyond: switch to leasing order, and you can get most of the deposit back, then cancel the leasing. Cost you only the 5 months leasing deposit
- Delivery in 6 months: no change allowed, and cancelling will cost you 60% the down payment

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. It seems that, if you are not entirely sure how many planes you will be needing, the safest bet is to order slightly more than you think you need and then choose "20% cash/80% on delivery" as your payment option. This seems to be the method where you would lose the smallest amount of money if canceling.
