Title: Ways around waiting for RI to bulid
Post by: stevecree on October 25, 2013, 08:31:55 PM
RI grows slowly now according to new game mechanics.  Ethically speaking, would starting a route months in advance with say a tech stopping ATR, to a destination 3000nm away just once per week be acceptable way of growing RI, so when a larger a/c is added at a later date the RI is already built up and you would avoid the early losses and gain instant decent LF's ??   If I did this would I be bending the rules somewhat ??

Not sure a single flight per week will do that much in the RI gain department, not without heavy marketing to push it along some : as for the ethics, seems fine to me, you are flying the route some, after all, : is it any different to flying a single daily service then adding more daily flights on a route once RI climbs to a level which will attract more pax to fill another plane?

I must confess, I have no idea how the RI mechanics work. All I know is Route Marketing sucks so I don't do it. How flying only once per week affects it, I can't tell.
But if building RI works that way, it should definitely be looked into.

Not true..

And for the question: RI goes up even with a single flight per week, it can be boosted by route marketing (up to twice as fast than without it, roughly). (though logically would perhaps have to expand the system so that having 1x flt/wk means that RI 100 is not achievable ..or something that way)

I do route marketing Saft. It is important to get RI up ASAP to raise LF and profits.

But Sami, would it be OK tech stopping a ATR once weekly on a route 3000nm to raise RI slightly prior to launching the route properly, or is that playing the system a little too far ?  That is if there were indeed any benefit to do it !

Very good question....Did we ever get a response?

I think it's fairly common practice to start with a smaller aircraft and swap out once demand warrants doing so.
