Title: Does routes time adjustments affect navigation fees ?
Post by: Kastor on January 29, 2009, 01:33:37 AM
When I made some adjustments in routes times - moving some to evening, some to morning, then re-asigned to the same a/c, my navigation fees jumped dramatically then got lowered back in next week. Is that normal ? If so, how is that situation reflected in reality ?

No, it shouldn't affect here, and to my knowledge doesn't happen in real life either (it's country specific only).

Funny, cause I just moved a flight from early evening to morning and my nav fees went to 300.000 right after this..

If you have to buy/pay more for slots to change the timing if your flight, those get lumped into nav fees.

Your nav fees should go down in the next week since the slot repurchase costs aren't in there.

Okay, so changing the times DOES indeed add additional costs. Found the answer here :

QuoteWhen you edit an existing route the slot times are automatically transferred to the new scheduled times of the route. If the change in the slot times is more than 60 minutes a small fee must be paid, and if the change is more than 4 hours the full fee must be paid again. You can always see the slot cost calculation by hovering your mouse over the blue (i) icon next to the slot cost.

It will also show you when you're editing the route.

Go into a route -> edit, change the time a little bit. You'll see 0 or minimal slot costs shown.

Then change it by 12 hours and your fees go up.

One way around this would be to manually cancel the route, elect to keep the slots, then reopen a route using the slots you already have.  Its a bit tedious, but if yo'ure broke its the only way to be effective...
