Post by: jamestbailey on August 24, 2013, 10:10:55 PM
Why is my brand spanking new DC8-55 in 90% condition? It has only been in the air for 3 weeks!?

It´s like with new cars. You drive them out of the dealers yard and lost half of it´s worth and parts of it´s condition....

If I drive a band new car out of dealer and I find s*** is wrong with it with in 3 weeks, I'm getting a new car. Mathematically, therefore  logically, you shouldn't have a brand new aircraft with 90% condition. I would understand 93-98% but not 90% after 3 weeks.

Landins and take offs play a role, so more you use it during the day, more it wears off.

May be it was just before B check? Condition does drop during the month and restores after B check.

It's a machine that's been working hard since day one.   Probably virtually non stop with tons of routes.   That's a lot of wear on a new machine.

Also your definition of condition may be different from the game.   For all you know low tire pressure could mean a 5% hit.
