Title: BEGINNER QUESTION
Post by: rickyricky101 on July 25, 2013, 08:21:24 PM
Hi there

I am just playing in the beginner world at the moment to get a feel of the game.

I have a couple of questions:

1. If you have the plane turnaround time of say 70 mins <1% delay, if you were to route the same plane at say 90 mins would the possible delay be reduced further from the 70 min turnaround?

2. When a plane goes in for a C or D repair, is it worthwhile having and using a spare plane for that week to run the schedule, or should the schedule just be allowed to have no runnings?  Would the route image suffer with no runnings in the maintenance schedule?

Regards

Richard

There's always a chance at delay.  No benefit doing what you propose.  You will lose revenue due to this

For your other question,  no there is no big need for a spare a/c. In the end you'll find that it is more work than it is worth

There will be no image suffering:Flights are considered not to be announced, so noone is missing them, different from being annulled for instant other reasons.
Spare planes only make sense if you have enough planes of that exact plane family to keep the spare plane busy while another is in maintenance, it will cost money if its sitting on the tarmac without any task.Spare planing also needs a lot of controlling and being online at the right moment, because you can“t set maintenances or change schedules between aircrafts in advance, it has to be done manually at exact the right time.
