It would be nice if there was a way to have unassigned aircraft that could pick up another aircraft's flights in case of breakdown or heavy maintance. Not sure if this has been suggested. But basically you'd assign the aircraft as backup, or some other designation. Would be nice for when the airline gets larger and keeps the cancelations down.
Thanks, and any thoughts.
I believe this has been suggested many times, but it's still a great idea. I don't have time to replace aircraft going into C check manually, but I would love to lease extra capacity if replacement could be done automatically. It would also be great if those backup aircraft would be automatically used to replace canceled flights originating from the hub, if not already used to replace aircraft in C check.
Yeah, the basics for coding might be a bit complicated. You would have to assign the aircraft as a backup to the route and then prioritize those routes in case there are more than one delay or maintainance. But it would keep the profits along better and make customers happier.

Wouldn't have to be perfect. I'd be happy if you could just assign aircraft as backup. It would automatically replace aircraft of the same type going into maintenance on a first come first serve basis. If not backing up an aircraft in maintenance, it would automatically be used to replace canceled flights.
It is a good idea. Only drawback I can see is that when you make large orders for aircraft, they all seem to go for month-long C-Checks with sveral days of eachother.
Btw, theres a feature request forum for things like this. ;)
