yes, when you break a rule that has a fine as punishment.
And the fine has to be paid to me! please :)
If you try and fly a plane with expired maintenance, the plane will be grounded, your CI will drop, and you'll get fined. There's some leeway with it, particularly for A & B checks. But that definitely doesn't make it a good idea to try and avoid maintenance to save a little money.
