Title: CANX due to Scheduling
Post by: Tom Ostojski on December 28, 2012, 07:07:33 PM
I have observed number of flights CANX due to scheduling. As much as I understand that tight turnarounds can lead to delays however I do not understand how it can lead to canx.?
Can someone please give me some more info on that ?

Of course heavy delays can lead to cancellation of flights (think of lost slots, airport curfew, lack of staff allowed to work overtime, missed airport services and so on). Like the whole model of the game delays and cancellations are based on a computer algorithm. They can happen at any time for everybody, but will be more likely with bad aircraft/staff condition and during winter season of the northern hemisphere (haven“t tried southern yet). Reason of cancellations in RL are more various than in this simplified model.Numbers in general are quite realistic, though.

imagine that you have 5 minutes extra between each flight... well if wx takes 30 minutes a couple times then one flight is gonna get cancelled eventually.

In real life flight crews will "time out" if a flight is delayed too much, meaning it is illegal for them to continue working.  Which means flying in or calling in a new flight crew, which can take hours, and there ya go - cancellation sometimes.
