Title: Runway Req.
Post by: Bettyb on January 23, 2009, 11:54:24 AM
Hi everyone,

just a quick Q

The runway available where i have based my airline is short meaning no plane bigger than a '75 can get in/out.
In the real world a330's, 767's etc. fly into this airport..........

If i made the plane lighter (less seats) does that effect runway requirement?

Thanks!

Yes, it does affect. However, instead of reduxing seats, I'd keep them at full number (with possible C and F class if needed), and then just take on board as many passengers as I can. Also, you get more passengers by flying shorter routes, and you could for example make a fuel stop at an airport some 100nm from your hub, so you might just be able to take a full load of passengers.

You can use the open route menu to check and plan these things, ie just select a new route from your airport to XXX, then select the B767 and see what it says about the limits (no need to actually open the route).

I find it very weird that BAe 146s  can't fly over like 500 nm from LCY with a full load.

Don't they do this often in real life?

Just something to think about.

Is that the 300/RJ100 model? From my personal experience the smaller models are more popular there. Although 500 does sound a bit low, also consider that all flights are to western europe or scandinavia (not finland.)

Yes it is. -300/RJ100

The think is, in the first beta, I was operating ERJ-195 ADVs on routes to Istanbul and Turkey without annny rwy limitations. And to NA via Shannon  ;)

Hey, the demand was there for 100+ seats per day.

Its lower now.... grrr...

The Dash-8-400s I had had rwy limitaions (they were the max MOTW )

Weird...  ;D

Oh well.

I accidentally declared bankruptcy on my Game 1 airline.... grrrr  :o.

So, I'm going for domination in game 3 haha.
