Why if I only have 9 planes, why do i need over 1,000 employees? Of those about 750 are either pilots or cabin crew?
Some reasons: The planes are all different types. They are old which most require 3 pilots. They are big which need a lot of cabin crew.
The calculations are in line with real world figures but if 707/747 size class planes are used for shorthaul flights the crew requirement is a bit too high as it cannot yet know the type of operation you have with those.
