Are there any advantages to having a higher market share at your base airport than your competitors? Does it increase demand on your routes? How about having the majority of market share on a particular route?

It is vice versa ;)
The market share represents the percentage of passengers using the airport being transported by the individual companies.
So, if you have a 20% MS, you carried 20% of the outgoing passengers at the airport.
Basically this is to determine, who is biggest/strongest airline at an airport.

Marketshare does not have an impact on passenger distribution from what I can tell. The S-curve is not modeled :-).
^^^ what he said. It is the total number of pax flown divided by the number of pax you flew. Merely an output of data and no more.
