Title: ATR Fleet Commonality
Post by: tworattle on June 03, 2012, 11:08:51 PM
Hey everyone I'm pretty new to the game and am currently building up a fleet of ATR's. I have 42's right now that are serving my routes perfectly and are turning a nice profit running 5 legs a day each. I would like to start leasing/purchasing ATR 72's so that I could start hitting higher demand routes and was curious if there is a commonality between the two models or if each one is going to count as separate groups on the commonality page. I'm just curious because the ATR-72 is basically a stretched and up-engined ATR- 42 and  I don't want to kill my promising young airline with extra maintenance costs early on.

P.S I am currently running two A320's as well so if the ATR-72 is a new group commonality wise it would be my third aircraft type.

The 42 and the 72 are in the same fleet type  :)

As long as it's in the same fleet group (which it is in this case), you'll be fine although you will incur some additional costs from the difference in engines.

Awesome. I was hoping that was the case since they are such similar aircraft from the same manufacturer. Thanks for the quick replies.

Just for future references, when you're check out a plane for fleet commonality using the search function, tick the box directly under filters, it will only return planes of your current fleet.

Alternatively, on the a/c page, 'fleet group' is the 2nd line of info.
