Title: Flight distance vs fuel consumption
Post by: Boot on March 23, 2012, 01:43:55 PM
Hi

Is the fuel consumption per hr in AWS less for short trips than longer ones?
For example A380 burns 8320kg/hr, this is probably average of trips that A380 is meant for (5000nm+).
But if somebody wants to fly A380 for 500nm trips, it's TOW would be significantly less and in real life it would use less fuel per hour... is it modeled in game same way or not?

Yeah I'm pretty sure fuel burn is modelled accurately depending on the mass of the aircraft for that particular flight.

I think it is modeled as well, but when you're using it on 500nm trips, most of your burn will be takeoff/climb out rather than cruise, so your average rate per hour might actually be higher on short stage lengths..

Either way, the turn time of the A380 should more than nerf any aspirations of profitability on a pure short haul schedule....

I dont plan to use A380 on SH flights (or use A380 at all), it was just an example :)
