Title: Help!
Post by: Escable on January 16, 2009, 03:43:00 AM
Okay, I need some help.  I've lost 1/2 million today in airline value.  I have positive income from routes, about $30k per pair of routes (5 pairs) and.. wow..  76% load.   I am losing $120k a week!   What is going on!  What changed?!

Help!

Okay.. I'm doing that.  I had lowered it 10% to begin with.. with 75 image, I bumped it up 5% so it's still 5% less than going rate.

Also, I ordered two new planes.  I think I will see if I can move loads around a little bit.. move one route to a medium plane instead of a larger one.. although, I have to figure in fixed cost and the what it would take to make a profit.  I can't believe I went from $1mil cash on hand a few hours ago to -56k  or so..  Sigh.

Also remember what was the "going rate" a year ago is less than what it is now.

i take it thats your 767? you need to swtich routes that is not enough to keep a good profit. this should be on a 3000nm route with good demand.

also your other aircraft i forget what it is now a BAC1-11? you need to squeeze as many flights onto them as possible, close up any gaps in your schedule with more flights

Great advice.   I redid my scheduling on one of my planes.. was able to fly more places too!  3-4 flights per day.

Looks like my airline is rebounding.  I went from -3.2mil to -2.7mil.   :)   That means I'm making money again.

Company pre-tax profit
-$ 85 768  +85.2%

Fuel price

Ya, you should be able to do 3 or 4 flights (depending on range) with those aircraft.  Like the others said, keep the aircraft packed with flights but make sure the turnarounds are not too short.  Also between flights on your schedule it says "Can depart again at ----" but that's the minimum turnaround, expand it.
