Title: Another topic on operational lease
Post by: Croatian Airliners on February 04, 2012, 11:26:34 AM
I´ve tried to find an answer in earlier topics but im still not very informed sooo... :)

Once I order a new aircraft and buy it via "operational lease", does that mean that the plane is not mine? Because I thought that its just a way of buying plane, but on lease. Is it possible to buy new aircraft in monthly payments or is the only to purchase an aircraft direct payment? Thx!

Well, of course you do not own them.
If you buy a house and pay for it in monthly installments, its not yours either, so why would an aircraft in this game be?
A new aircraft obtained by leasing it belongs to a leasing company, it's just yours to use as long as you contract for it.
Obviously, you can buy it after the contract period ends for its remaining time value.
The only other option is to buy it straight out with cash, without ever leasing it.

I can understand that, but after 30 yrs (per example) of leasing the house it is yours, right? Why not the same here? I buy it and pay it for the next, idk, 5 yrs and than it s mine... :)

It is not a financial lease deal, it is operational lease (like the name says .. basically like a rental deal). Hence you will not be the owner of the plane. (there is no financial lease option atm available)
