Title: Yakovlev Yak-42D What Do You Think Of Them?
Post by: ryanhami on January 13, 2009, 07:40:51 AM
Hey,

I have just ordered 4 of them, they seemed good for the price.

The C checks cost $600,000 which is quite a bit but i should be able to live with this.

They Use 4000kg fuel per hour not massive and they have over 100 seats.

Has anybody ever had them?, they are for short domestic flights.

Cheers

Ps. I could have made a big mistake!

:P

Keep away from the damn Ruskies, terribly inneficient. A 737-200 uses less fuel at MTOW. (and 3 times the pax)

In beta 2 I had a Soviet airline and decided to use Soviet aircraft only. They're all very bad aircraft apart from the Tupolev Tu154, which I was just about ok.

Did you consider the ATR 42 or Dash 8? Similar size but very fuel efficient.

Saying all that, you might still be able to make a profit, though.

Yakolevs are fine when you start up (since the 737 always happens to run out..) But you have to replace them with the 737/a320 soon anyways  :P

The point of regional aircraft is to run thin routes, if he's running them on routes 737s and A320s can operate on, then for that price you could get something much larger.
