My home laptop is on it's last legs and I'm thinking I might go for an iPad as my home computer replacement. I've searched around the forum and it seems like most iPad discussion is in bug reports and a bit old. I'd be curious if there are any players who now primarily playing AWS from an iPad or another tablet and whether you like it; would consider the game play to be the same? or is it challenging? etc. I have accessed the game from my Blackberry a few times and outside of checking in it's too difficult to play on a small screen (for me at least)...and assuming that with the larger screen on an iPad that would not be much of an issue. If there's already a thread on this, feel free to point me to it.
There are some functions that are disabled for touchscreens (everything related to 'mouseover' / 'hover'), and some other limitations but basic functions are ok.
You can ask here and get frustrated when you bought your iPad...
Or:
You go to an Apple store or Apple Premium Reseller and try for yourself by using the iPad on Airwaysim.
If your not allowed by the store manager to try and use the iPad in the shop then DO NOT buy from them.
it works well enough on my touchpad, but scheduling is a pain/near broken. Good for used market trolling and other light management tasks. If you use multiple windows for scheduling, its probably not a great primary game play device
Depending on what kind of iPad you had in mind you might also consider the cheapest available Macbook Air. It's about the same size, but can do much more.
I love my iPad, but it's not really a home computer replacement. I travel a lot and the iPad is the greatest thing for someone like me, but its not a home computer. Get a laptop or something that supports a mouse.
As for Airwaysim: The route planning does not work, i.e. you cannot see the demand chart, making it impossible to play the game. Its okay if you want to check on how the company is doing and as was said before, scroll through the used marked, buy aircraft, and so on.
If you access the main site on tr iPad everything works fine, just slower, but anything Flash. (demand/supply charts ect.) You can still see the demand for destinations, and figure out how much is supplied by looking at the flights and what they are flying. I have done everything needed to run my airline on my iPad but it is frustrating. I try to avoid it if I can. It's great for looking for AC and forums! I'm on my iPhone now which I use for the same purposes.
Funny enough this afternoon I thought about this same thing. I logged on using my HTC Evo 4g and it worked perfectly. The screen was too small to work big projects but it will work just fine for me to check up on things....
I can only believe if my HTC works that the Ipad will be great.
If only Siri would troll the used market and do my scheduling for me!! ::)

Oh, is it that late already? I am behind the times with my iPhone 4 I guess... ;)
I'm using my android tablet (old, cheap chinese with 8" 800x600 screen) regularly to check on airwaysim. Apart from some glitches with pop-up information it works perfectly. Thanks to flash support all features are working even in full version of the website.
Just get any android device instead of iToy, tons more possibilities and features... not to mention that you can save hundreds of dollars...
On my iProduct (iPod touch) I only really use it for checking that I'm not loosing money and a quick check of the used market. Don't do any proper playing on them.
I check the airline on the iproduct as well (iphone). I concur with the sentiment here. It's good for checking overall status of airline (and knowing whether you need to spend some time on your airline), checking the used market, and checking out statistics. Generally it is very effective for content consumption. I have scheduled a few flights on the iphone, but only when I already knew what I wanted to do (which i determined previously on the regular computer). It's acceptable, but I wouldn't want it to be my sole source of playing.
If it was me, I would highly encourage the mac-book air if you like apple products. It is very light, but has all the capability of a regular computer. Plus, with the solid state drive, you'll be amazed at how much faster it can do daily tasks compared to your old computer. For full disclosure - you can also get PC laptops with similar technology so if that's something you're interested in, you should check out both to determine what will work best for you.
Our household is mixed. I have a PC laptop that I use for work and we also have a 24 inch imac. Both have their pluses and minuses. She refuses to use a PC ever again. To me, it's one dozen or the other. they both do basically the same thing with slightly different features, etc. The big screen is great though (obviously not mac specific).

I'm using android too (samsung galaxy tab 10.1) but the supply/demand charts, airline market share charts, tansported passengers chart and passengers destination charts doesn't shown up. Am I missing something?

AFAIK they only work in default browser and you must have flash plugin installed (I'm using the regular one, not the lite version). It's on market :)
