Title: Cancelled Flight
Post by: lucasite on January 10, 2009, 08:24:29 PM
Hi,
It seems my first flight was cancelled, with a message Flight was canceled / Technical problem with aircraft
Does that mean I need to do something, or is this just a random probability of cancellation thing?

Regards

Luca

Cancellations are based on probability calculation. But generally, the worse the condition, the higher the prob. of cancellation. You can try to make an extra A or B check for the plane for example to raise the condition %. Try to keep it over 75% to reduce the cancellation probability.. But remember that although you got a new plane in 100% cond. there still can be tech. problems as nothing is perfect.

And cancellations are always poison for your company image as passengers won't be happy about that...

Ah yes my airplane condition is alittle below 70%. I'll wait a week and see how the weekly A check has an affect.
Thanks Sami

I think it may be a good idea to make an extra A or B check to avoid further unwanted cancellations as they raise the condition a bit too. Of course up to you ;)

When you suggest adding an extra B check, do you mean literally going to the maintenance actions section and selecting Perform B check?
And if so, what happens to the schedule, does that effect the route with a cancelled flight?

Yes I meant to either click on the maintenance icon in schedule and there check the "perform ... check now", or my aircraft -> maintenance -> xx check.

If you put it to extra maintenance, it's not counted against you so to say, so it's not a cancellation. That's for the purpose of keeping the system simple enough.

Is there a rough amount of % gained from performing an A or B check?

Like, will the B check give it more improvement to the condition?

I'm running at 35% punctuality right now. :'(

Oh Dear!

Are you only allowing the bare minimum turnaround time for ALL flights? or is your
a/c condition REALLY low?

My turnaround is fine, set enough for 0.0% chance of delay from that.

A/C condition is 60%, which I thought would be good enough to fly. Apparently not.

anything over 80 percent is a lot better, try the B check route it will add a few percent anyways then see how it performs back on its routes, if its your only aircraft so far you might have to ride it out until a further aircraft can join the fleet and provide cover for more repairs.

always check condition of planes before lease, its a harsh lesson i learnt in the Beta's

Meraki, if its any concellation I had about the same punctuality aswell and my A/C had 67% condition.
An a check earlier had increased it to 71%, but it feel again on the second week. So I just forced it in for a B check now, see what that effect has.

Cancelled flights due to technical reason is the biggest problem I have at the moment - even as my F28 has 80%. I think i have got a monday produced model. >:( I really waiting for the delivery of my brandnew Fokker 100 so that these problems will be hopefully significantly reduced.
If the situation get worse I have to send the AC to an additional C-Check.
