How many are out there? I haven't got any experience in other games.
Are there any decent games? I'm getting so p***ed off with current AWS, so I'm going to leave this for a while, and try something else.
ahahha, you gonna get shot by Sami now Meicci, run :)
I have tried Airline6 , i can make money only in the first year then i end up loosing money + its a lot of work (boring too clicks too)
Cheers
You won't find any as good as AWS. :P
I don't think we're even allowed to talk about the other games... are we?
We live in a world with freedom to say whatever we want.
That may be true in part (although people in many countries don't have the freedom of speech), but I seem to recall, perhaps incorrectly, that sami has said in the past that we weren't supposed to talk about the other simulation games that are available.

I think enough people know that this is only limitedly valid for AWS... I am not going to go into detail, as that got me banned once already...
Anyhow, you are free to do try your luck :P
No need to talk about them. They are all rubbish. Either too simple, too small or real life time, which is boring.
AWS is the best Airline sim out there. Some things could be better but most of it is frankly epic.

All of the other web-based multiplayer airline sims are much more primitive than AWS (I've done the research). AWS as he mentioned is far from perfect, but it's the best out there :)

Word.
Plus there is something in TOS about not advertising other sites/games/simulations somewhere I believe.
Its fine to mention them tho... ;)
On other airline management games.
I used to enjoy the heck out of Airline Tycoon 1. NOT a sim by a long shot but good fun.
Played the Airline Tycoon 2 demo last week, not worth the money.
Used to enjoy Airlines from Interactive Vision on my 486DX266 :)
I like AWS a lot, the mmo element is cool. Too bad pricing model is a bit basic (mainly that there's no feedback).
I don't know why burning virtual kerosen by the tonne equals fun, but that's how it is.
I thought Airline Tycoon was a PC game. There is going to be a version 2 of the game, apparently available on Steam tomorrow. It is a little cartoonish. I don't like if the strategy aspect of this will be any good.
There was a pretty good (though very simple and limited) game a long time ago called Air Bucks. It was kind of buggy, but still, an enjoyable game.
There has never really been a GOOD airport simulator either. There have been some but they simply were not fun games in the end even for the most diehard.
Oh the new Airline Tycoon is finally coming? (it's been rumoured for years now) Had some laughs with the original, not really a serious sim by any means but a fun way to pass time for a brief period.
(And for the topic also; I would prefer not to start comparing games and sims here, as in the past (in another forum) quite flame war started of it and we were dragged into it.)
According to this post (from the authors):

Airline Tycoon 2 is out in boxed version. Steam / Gamersgate version is supposed to be released on Oct 21st (tomorrow). But I did not see any sign of it last time I checked (few days ago) on Steam...
PC games are not really competition with AWS, so I hope the link is ok.
As far as online games, AWS is so far ahead of everything else out there, that there is really no comparison...
Airline Tycoon 2 is now available on Steam. I bought it last night, but I have not played it.
The comments about it are mostly negative though... Too much clicking too much animation, not enough strategy....

Sounds like Airline Tycoon 1 all over again.
The fact that the AI does the same thing every time does make it a tad boring...

So not worth it. Save the $$$s. Worse than the original Tycoon1 game in terms of playability and features bring nothing new compared to the old, just added with longer loading times, and more stupid sillines on plane choices for example. Poor usability.
(used to play the old Tycoon a time ago, it was fun .. well, in just "fun" sort of way, was not a serious game by any means .. but the new one is somehow worse)
(sorry, I am stepping a bit over my own words in regards of commenting, but the AT2 seems to be a big flop)
Sami, you have to give thanks for Airline Tycoon 2, it was for him that I discovered this wonderful game called AirwaySim.
I reading a few months ago news that would launch the new Airline Tycoon, so I was curious and googled for "Airline Game" and found this site.
Your site holds the attention by the very beautiful interface, the blue menu, easy to use captive from the first day of use.
in all honesty. this game has a pretty welcoming community.
I was on Airline Empires for past 8 mths, and it was great at the beginning but man people are nasty on there. You have no idea... the whole thing blew up once i got so annoyed that I spammed the site with multi accounts. Because the mods were not enforcing the rules and being mean as heck... I def wont do that here :P
Lets keep it great folks.
Agreed, the community is a big plus of this place, not just the game.
You stay classy San Diego.
Online i experienced a few simulators, until I ended up with the demo. I actually arranged a credit card just for this game (free in my bank ccount package) and I found out its dangers when I went on holiday hehe.
to the point; talking about simulators; I used to play Airport Inc. an airport simulator which was made before 200 I think, really old but most of the time satisfying for me. I also played the airline sim games mentioned before; pure rubbish

Airport Mogul in the US. I spent many a Saturday morning on that game. Entirely linear, horribly animated, but I was just so happy to get a 777 to fly to my airport that I didn't care. The two versions following that game were terrible, but the first one is still playable, even today.
I had a PC simulator called Airline by Efzed. The first version I had was sometimes unstable, but still fun. It wasn't anything to become addicted to, but when you had a couple hours it was alright to boot up and build a legacy. The next version was so buggy that I couldn't start an airline, and I was amazed they even sold it without doing any testing whatsoever.
