Hello all!!
I had been on a 45 minute guided tour on Frankfurt International Airport today with a hop to the visitor's terrace afterwards. Sadly the photos from out of the bus have mirrorings in it or were in bad light, but most of the ones off the terrace were pretty decent.
Here comes a line-up of my selected highlights. (All uploaded with ImagesHack.us)

That would also fit by time and flightplan... thanks for the hint :)
And well, the quality could be better but all I have is a several years old Sony Cyber-shot with 3x optical zoom and 4.1MegaPixels so not a number one camera for that Job :P
cheers,
Jona L.
technically it's just Toronto Lester B. Pearson, but thumbs up for doing your research. :P Also, did I see an SAA A346 in the backround during that touchdown shot? And where was the AC B763 going to (and if you say CYYZ, that's just lame.)
Cheers,
Austin
nice gallery to start the day !
Thx mate !
great pics Jona
keep up the good work, post some more :)
cheers

I was just there for a couple of hours, I mus check if I have some more good ones from DUS, CGN, STN etc... so yet sorry, VJC, ut we will see!!
Austin... you should know that I know that by heart as you know about my nicknames for aircraft (destinations are name giving and if the airport has a "name" the second plane is named after that)
Can't tell that 763 as I don't know the schedule for that one as it didn't depart while I was there.
I think it is SAA at the parking space --> waiting position for a later departure, there was also a TG A343 and some Eritrean plane but those are not on the shot... as I said, Austin, my dear:

Okay, I searched all my files... currently 51 more picutres are being uploaded to imageshack.us . These are the best ones of my library...
I will post them here not too far to go, but I will need some time to name the types correctly, etc. (loads of typework :P )
So you can expect them maybe tonight if not tomorrow evening... must see when I find the time.
cheers for now,
Jona L.

How far do these planes have to back taxi after landing. It looks like that 744 is half way past the terminal at touch down.
The visitor's terrace in FRA is currently on Terminal 2 (due to a building site) where only crappy airlines dock at (all the non-star alliance stuff). Runway 25L/R begin about 60-100m before the LH B744 touches down. The taxi time in FRA can (up to your RWY and terminal position) be up to 25 minutes, usually when they go down on 25R Lufthansa heavies taxi 10-15 minutes to gate (if you have to get to Terminal B you have at leat 20 minutes up to how long the pilot needs to stop). From Terminal 2 to RWY18 ("Startbahn West" in North-South direction which is only used for takeoffs) you may need 30-35 minutes.
It just looks like halfway down the airport...

Where are all the 752s flying to EWR??? I must've missed them.
GREAT SHOTS! I am going to try to take a picture of the Saudi royal family's 747sp and another Arab leader's plane (a 742) at KCLE when they come back again. I was told that the one a/c (Syrian 742??) owes the airport 250,000 for fuel.
Looks like all the Arab leaders are getting ill and are flying to go to the Cleveland Clinic.
Jona
great pics mate, cheers for the upload. The last /first pic however if you wanna see it- I think its A319 LH Italia??
I may be wrong just checking :)
great uploads

Yes. Very much so. Rated as #3 hospital in all of the USA and #1 in many specialties. Look up the Cleveland Clinic.
Half of India seems to come here to do their internships.
There are confirmed stories of Arab princes coming back and giving the doctors and nurses massive gems as tips for a job well done. They reserve whole floors of the hotel. I have heard of one who has a mansion here he uses only when he comes to town (my uncle, before he died did a ton of the stained glass work in his foyer)... The only 747s at KCLE are them and Air Force One. While the runway is long enough, there just ins't the demand here.

I think Lufthansa has a daily A346 from FRA, don't they?! (maybe I mess that up with another town though)
But you should be here long enough to know you don't only need the runway but also both: the capacity and the facilities. Meaning that if your baggage reclaim belt is too short to cover half a 747's baggage, if can't be done. If you have only passenger gates with single gangways it fails even harder, etc...
cheers
I am going to Hamburg in 8 Days (for 2 days), btw., of course ::) I go by plane (DUS-HAM).
I will make sure to get some decent shots at either of the airports and, of course ::) , I will upload the best ones here :)
Talking of Hamburg Fuhlsbüttel airport: Did you know it is the world's oldest airport still operational at its original site? Built in 1911 it was never relocated or whatever.
I look forward to seeing DenisG and you can look forward to new pictures from those airports :)
cheers,

You can await more :) I am leaving for a weekend trip to Hamburg tomorrow, of course by aircraft and of course by world's best airline: Lufthansa :) I will not have too much time in DUS though (will arrive their 10 minutes prior boarding, and the security check and that stuff, so more pictures from HAM I assume :) )
I am back Monday evening, so you should await the new photos by Tuesday evening :)

Austin my dear, A333 if Lufthansa ;) they don't have A332s anymore (not sure if they operated the at any point though but definitely not nowadays)
Having s***y weather here though... raining cats and dogs ::)
Not many pics taken yet but there is a return flight to come and I will spend a few hours in Hamburg before departure :) Alreday Caught United B752 (in new paint scheme) at HAM :)

:-[ I meant A333, my finger slipped without me realising it had done so.
I do know they had A332s, though - I remember seeing one at YYZ, actually. SO THERE. :P

I wasn't sure about the A332, but Wikipedia said in German and English variant that they were not used (would be under phased out aircraft then)...
I do find it pretty hard to actually decide which it is especially if a bit further away... I am never really sure about them. On the B777 it is easy to say if 772 or 773 same as A320 and A321... both times the bigger ones have a door more before the wing section.
