Title: Amy Winehouse
Post by: swiftus27 on July 23, 2011, 04:52:51 PM
Found dead in her apartment today.

I am setting the odds of an overdose at 9:10

Wow, I'm not actually shocked. This was going to happen anytime. I feel for her family.

In fact she lived much longer than most people thought.

Now, she was 27. Other musicians aged 27 when they died were: Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, Jimmy Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Brian Jones....

84 killed in Norway, at least 11 killed in China. One dead junkie in the UK.

Just saying...

Yes, I am aware that people die daily. What I'm saying is that people are suddenly more concerned about one dead junkie rather than 80 odd people killed in a terror attack and 11+ killed in a train crash.

Or, to keep you happy 154,999 other people died today.

I could simply imagine Amy Winehouse was well known to more people than other people who died, that's why her death gets more noticed than the death of my neighbour last week for example.

At the end everybody should think and be happy about the people who are alive and not about the people who died.

Interesting contrast:  1 very talented person who threw away her life on the same day when 80+ annonymous innocent people are murdered....

The talent part is up to peoples opinion. The rest makes a good point, but the murder is worse IMO.

Just that some people have different ideas of "news". Some people care about world affairs; some care about people's voicemails.

It's ofcourse sad when a person dies.

But that didn't suprise me one bit... I also suspect an overdose.

I'm sorry for you, a truly bad moment for those of you who stay behind. I bet she's having a good time now.
My family, in a lapse of just a shy more than a year, lost 3 grands, one of them WWII Spitfire ace.

Thank you.

What a shame! That granddad of you must have been a true hero. :)
