Title: Too short turn-rounds ...
Post by: philkirk99 on July 23, 2011, 01:16:46 PM
I'm new to all this but can't understand something. I have a route which operates daily but once, on 1 day of the week only, I can see under my performance that there was a delay due to "scheduling - too short turn-round". How can this be as the aircraft is a B737-400 and although the suggested turn-round time is 40mins, I have actually scheduled in a turn-round time of 70 minutes, as this reduced my risk of having a scheduling delay to less than 1%.

But how about the turnaround time at home base.. Make sure it is an hour or so too.

And also, just saying "a delay" isn't really anything bad. All flights are bound to have some delays. But as long as the companywide average dep punctuality is better than 15mins then it is ok. The flight delay page has more info.

I put all my turn-rounds for this aircraft at 70 mins. I checked the "flight delays" and it says that overall my punctuality is 90% and my average delay is 4 mins - does that mean I really have nothing to worry about then?

I ve got 1 Boeing 747, turn around 4:00 hrs. it was 4:15 before.

(minimum required turn-around 120 mins, with 25% of delay probability.
after 3:20 i get 1% of delay probability.)

I get 26 flights a week.
62,8% or 130 minutes of delay.
weather conditions 19mins, 9,18 %
5,8% for lack of staff (i ve got the recommended amount of staff, which is usually higher)

i see real probability is more than 1 percent!!!
