Title: 146 Replacements
Post by: starrymarkb on June 02, 2011, 04:04:09 PM
I've got a few BAe 146s that I'm looking to replace as they are getting quite long in the tooth. What would you advise to fill their capable shoes.

I have them fitted out with High Density interiors with a row of Business Class as well

Thanks

Hey,

where are you based and do you prefer jet or prop aircraft?

Bristol UK, I'm not fulled about Prop or Jet, I have 735s on the busiest longer routes, 146s on the thinner routes and ATRs for short haul

Thanks

I suggest ATR-72 if their range is enough for you.

Replace BAe 146 in 1997 isn't easy, maybe the best is just to order new 146 if your current ones are too old. An alternative might be Fokker70/100 but it's more an aircraft for longer routes up to 2000nm.

Long in the tooth? At 10 years old they are practically brand new, my friend.

Over here in Nairobi I'm still running 20+ year old BAE 1-11s and even now they are still running every day on internal/international short haul. I would keep the 146s, maybe buy em as I would think they are reasonably cheap to run. If they are earning money why bother changing them?

Fokker 70/100 to replace your 146's if you have the demand to fill them, if your operating 146-300s they can hold approx 96 pax then the Fokker 100 is the way ahead as it holds a few more seats  and althogh its max range is approx 2000NM it wont hurt having them on routes alot shroter than that, just keep the aircraft flying as much as possible and I think you'll be suprised by them.  Also you have suifficient business demand you could add in an extra row of them compared to your 146 aircraft or if your business deamand is only 4 or 5 seats on a route then the extra economy wont hurt.

And if you want to see DC-6B in commercial service, go to Namibia. However, this isn't representative :D
