I was wondering about what airline would get the largest market share: airline A with an 1x/day flight or airline B with a 2x/day flight +stopover?

The default prices are lower, as it (seems) that the system takes into account "time per distance"...

Yes. Flight time is an indicator for LF calculation, as frequency is another one (besides of some others). But frequency is the absolute most important one.
