The release of AirwaySim is getting closer and now it's time to cast your vote about the scenario of the first public game world.

Plan is for a 15 year game with 25 min days, which takes approx 3 months. The vote options are just some random years, feel free to post your own suggestions.

I like the idea of the 70's for the oil embargo and pax rate.  Basically everything gets easier after that.  I think that the first release shouldn't be overwhelmingly challenging for the new user.

Release is planned for late December or early January. Depends on my holidays etc.

Actually now that I started to think of it, the pre-1980s games may not be a very good idea as there may not be enough pax to cater all the airlines. Have to see. The first game won't have the 500 players max limit at least, we'll start lightly from max 300 or so.

I think 1990-2005, cheap fuel, good demand, and lots of great planes. Should be easy at first and as people learn the game it should get harder in the end with competition.

Ah.... Sami, will their be a test game running by the actuall game, where you test new features for bugs, etc? :D

Meh, im evil so I voted 1970-1985. We get 3 years to build your airline before oil kills us all.  ;D

Though my 2nd option would be in the 85-2000. Bit tough to start with 733s as the A320s done come till a few years into the game. Also, we get 757s and 767s at there start, which is good for thin LH routes.

1990-2005 would be easy for alot of the newer players. They could learn the ropes and make mistakes that wont be as unforgiving as the 1970s.

Bleh, ok ok.

lets play a little bit in the future......we seems to have a nice crisis now as well....and the early 2000s were also not "bad" and with ending the big I-bulb........so 1995-2010

I voted 1990-2005.
Since I haven't played the betas, it seems like a good and quite easy timeframe to start in. Specially since I'm not old enough to remember much further back than that :P

Yeah I like 85-2000 as well. 90-2005 would be way too easy, but like everyone else said, it would be beneficial for new players to learn. 85-2000 is "medium/easy" difficulty in my opinion.

I think the first public game needs to be one where all the new players that have waited for the game to start have an era that is easy to get to grips with, it will give them chance to get used to the usability of the game before they try and take on the bigger challenges like we are experiencing on Beta 2.

Exactly, 90-2005. tons of demand, cheap fuel, and lots of good planes.

Totally agree. 1990-2005 or 1995-2010 are the best options. I personally voted 1990-2005. Had a great time in the first game with my base in Muscat (MCT). In the 70s that base doesn't works for me as the demand simply isn't there so I doubt that a game in the 70s is good because I'm in India right now based out of Chennai and I have a hard time to get my loadfactors above the 50s despite an image of 26 (Still room for improvement). I don't think unexperienced people are even able to reach that . So yes, starting in the 1990s please!

Same here. I made a killer running out of London City towards the end of beta 1. I was operating E190S/195s and Dash-8-400s and making a killer while other carriers were going bankrupt.

I think I will be crazy and base and LCY again for the actual game. =p

1995-2005
I think these might have been the best times for air travel. I think more people are more familiar with the newer planes than the older ones so this can help first time players like me.  :D

Oh and, will we lose money on Sptember 11, 2001?

yeah my vot for 95-2005, nice bombardment of new aircraft during that time, and passenger growth, cannot wait to get stuck in with the competition

If I remember correctly from beta1, everything was fine. However, the demand drop from 2001-2002ish? was there. So expect the same to happen. Also, the rise in oil towards the end of 2006-2008 (present day) is factored in.. made things interesting in the final days of beta1  ;)

Yea there is a small overall / global effect when the traffic declined for a few months but as the specific 'events' module is not done yet it's not that dramatic.
