Title: The perfect mix of business and coach...
Post by: Nlgravity on April 13, 2011, 05:04:48 AM
I heared that before a popular way of strating your airline was by changing the configuration to more business and first.

If Im not mistaken - this no longer works (is it a new policy)?

How did this strategy worked? hearing some smart comments from the knowledgable AWS veterans will help me understand certain aspects of the bussiness simulation alogorythms.....

so please my dear AWS geniouses... reply away! ;D

It was simple. You took your first (second, third...) aircraft and reconfigurated it with the maximum amount on first class the route you wanted to serve offered and filled up the rest with business class (for example with a B742 in ATB from Heathrow to JFK).

The result was endless profit for people based at Heathrow or Haneda (and other airports). If your routes were short, you were also able to do this with high density first/business class to get even more profit.

Due tu the fact pax won't use (fill up) your first and even business class only aircraft until you have achieved some route image and company image this really doesn't work anymore in any way. But it is still possible to add a small business and/or first class to your aircraft, personally I do this ~3-6 month after founding the airline, when CI nearly hits 35+.

Thanks man... that makes sense. Now I understand.

ive still been able to run planes with a heavy mix of F/C on select routes (no competition)...although I find when you have competition, you do need the y seats for balance (i.e, F/C worked for me recently in India, but with competition on heavy F/C routes out of LHR, yes you need 3 classes)

I add C class on my 2nd aircraft (if the money is there).

While you can't start heavy F/C config LH anymore, you can still start normal C and F class. Once RI reaches 15+ and CI reaches 15+ you start filling your seats.

When your flying against yourself, any strategy, config, idea ect works as proven time and time again in different game worlds. When your flying against competition the advise given, starts to make sense.
