Title: Newbie, questions
Post by: BHigg on April 12, 2011, 03:51:13 PM
Hi all, love the game, wish i'd found it before!
I have a few questions to start with that should get me going,

What happens with the monthly B maintainence when you have a flight scheduled for the same time? Cause the only way i see round this is to only fly the plane 6 days a week all the time.

Can i make some profit with just 1 plane, or how many should i buy to start with?

Does it make any difference if i fly to the same airport everyday or if i fly to it alternate days. (Profit wise which is better, and the demand is higher than my plane at both.)

Last one for now, what are the maximum runway fee's i should be willing to pay for a 32 seat plane.

Thanks

Ben

- Your aircraft will not fly the scheduled flights during B-check. The flights that the B-check overlaps will be flown the next week again.

- You can make profit with 1 aircraft. It actually depends on the aircraft. It will be easier to make profits with a larger aircraft than with a smaller aircraft.

- It does make a difference, especially with competition. Remember, frequency is the key to success.

- You should not bother about slot costs, those are an 1 time purchase.

The scheduling system automatically cancels any flights scheduled during the B-Check.  But it won't impact RI or CI, since it's only once per month.

You should start making a profit at around 2-3 planes, depending on how big they are.  Also, keep in mind that you NEVER want to buy planes when you first start off.  Always lease them, as you need to have a certain # before you make a reasonable profit.

You should always fill up demand at close airports before moving on to another destination.  The more destinations you have, the more marketing costs.  At minimum, fly a route 7x weekly, or else don't bother.

You should not be flying a 32-seat plane in the first place.  Unfortunately, the way the system is set up, most planes under 50-seats are unprofitable.  And runway fees are the same no matter what plane, so fly a bigger plane.  If you are flying a 32-seat plane, I would recommend bankrupting and starting over.  You have 3 "free" bankruptcies before you have to pay again.

If you were to start over, I would recommend a 2 737 airline based at a size 4 airport.

Hope this helps!
