Title: Yeilds
Post by: dnash on March 27, 2011, 04:17:48 PM
Hi,

I am new to this game. I think that I'm doing relatively well, but I'm not sure what the "Yeild, ¢ /RPM" and "Revenue, ¢ / ASM" mean. They are located on the Manage Routes page. Could someone please explain these. Screenshot attached. Also, is there a way of seeing what a competitor charges for a particular route?

Yield = Revenue/(#Pax * Miles) or an easier method though not 100% correct is avg fare/miles flown

So $100 avg fare/1000 miles = 10 cent yield

ASM= Revenue/(#Seats*Miles) or easier but not 100% correct would be Yield*LF

So in our above example of 10 cent yield, if you had a 70% LF you would have a 7 cents per ASM

ASM is how much revenue you get per seat per mile flown
RPM is how much revenue you get per passenger per mile flown

You cant see in this game how much your competitors charge. If you could all fares in this game would revert to $1.

Sounds easy. How important is this or should I focus more on load factors and profits?

A combination of it, I guess.

If you fly very longhaul, you'll get high profits but low revenue/yields
If you fly 100 nm you'll get low profits but high revenue/yields
